The blaze struck W@ng Fuk Court on November 26, filling the structure with thick smoke and leaving residents scrambling for safety.
In the midst of the emergency, 28-year-old Rhodora Alcaraz made a life-saving decision as flames and smoke closed in around her.
According to her sister, Raychelle Loreto, Alcaraz wrapped her employers’ infant in a wet blanket and held the child close while they remained trapped inside a smoke-filled room for several hours.

Loreto says Alcaraz protected the baby until firefighters reached them.
Community members have since rallied around Alcaraz, calling her courage an act of pure compassion.
Many overseas Filipinos in Hong Kong expressed admiration for her presence of mind.
Some supporters described her as a “modern-day hero.” Others offered prayers and messages of encouragement as she continues to recover in the hospital.
Her former employer, Rhoda Lynn Dayo, shared how deeply the act resonated with those who knew Alcaraz. Dayo says the young worker had long been considered part of their family.
She recalls how hardworking and affectionate Alcaraz had always been.
“People are really recognizing her act of bravery,” says Dayo.
She reflected on the strength it took for Alcaraz to hold on to the child in a moment of crisis.
“I think you know when you’re in that time of desperation, you want to live, you are in survival mode,” she says.
Dayo adds that she admires Alcaraz for never letting go of the baby despite the danger.
A chaotic scene unfolded inside a fast-food restaurant in Naic, Cavite, after a woman abruptly lashed out at a staff member and another customer. The disturbance reportedly started when she attempted to settle her bill using a mobile phone. According to barangay officials, she began acting erratically and made threatening remarks as tensions rose. Responders who later assessed her condition observed signs that she may have been going through a mental health episode.
Meanwhile, in Mangaldan, alert neighbors quickly came to the aid of a mother and her child when an attempted break-in escalated into an alleged attempt at s3xual assault. Thanks to the community’s swift response, the suspect was stopped before causing further harm.
In another incident, CCTV footage from a separate area showed a man entering a home by sneaking through the back and prying open a window. The homeowner, identified only as “Isabela,” shared that she has been dealing with severe emotional trauma since the alleged intrusion. Authorities revealed that the same man had previously been reported for causing trouble in a nearby village. He now faces complaints of robbery and serious s3xual assault.
