The catastrophic impact has left one female passenger fighting for her life in critical and unconscious condition, casting a harsh spotlight on the dangers of reckless driving.
The collision, which occurred past 2:30 a.m. near the Lacson-Dapitan Intersection, was captured on security cameras.
The footage reportedly shows the SUV approaching the intersection and suddenly swerving, resulting in a devastating, high-speed impact with the hospital’s structural gate.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage to its front end, and airbags were deployed, yet the force of the crash was enough to severely injure one of its occupants.
The immediate aftermath was one of chaos and shock. Fortunately, a nearby delivery rider, Macoy Legarda, reacted instantly, becoming the good samaritan who may have saved the victim's life.
Legarda wasted no time, rushing to the wrecked vehicle and finding the most injured female passenger among the distressed group.
“Kinuha ko siya, wala nang dalawang isip. Tinakbo ko na siya roon. Wala silang pakialam kasi sa sobrang taranta po,” Legarda recounted, describing the panicked state of the victim's companions.
The rider's quick thinking was crucial, as he reportedly managed to speak with the woman briefly before she lost consciousness entirely inside the hospital.
SK Chairman Emanuel Zamora of Barangay 470 confirmed the gravity of the injuries sustained by the passenger.
"Malubha pong nasaktan at ito po’y walang malay," Zamora stated, while providing the small comfort that the four other occupants of the vehicle—including the driver—were treated and reported to be out of danger.
The incident is now under investigation by the Manila Police District's Traffic Enforcement Unit, but initial findings from the local barangay have raised serious concerns.
The SUV driver reportedly told barangay officials that the crash was an unavoidable result of swerving to avoid another person blocking the intersection.
However, a review of local CCTV footage conducted by Barangay 470 officials told a different story.
Chairman Zamora revealed the footage contradicted the driver's claim: " Noon amin pong ni-review sa aming CCTV, siya po ay wala pong kasabay. Nasobrahan po siya sa pagliko."
Furthermore, the driver's own admission to the barangay was concerning. Zamora stated, "Ayon naman po sa driver, medyo wala pa po siya sa tamang ulirat kasi po, medyo nakainom nga po. Nabigla rin po siya sa aksidente."

The driver's admission of alleged intoxication and the contradicted statement underscores the potential role of reckless behavior in causing the near-fatal crash.
Authorities are now probing the possibility that driving under the influence of alcohol was the root cause of the tragedy.
Fortunately, no pedestrians were hit on the sidewalk, preventing the list of casualties from growing further.
The focus now remains on the critical condition of the injured passenger and ensuring accountability for the severe damage and bodily harm caused.
