In the Philippines, accidents that cause injuries or deaths are first handled by police who secure the scene and check on the victims.
Officers document the area, collect evidence, take photos, and talk to witnesses to understand what happened.
Medical teams take injured persons to hospitals, while authorities coordinate with funeral services for those who died.
Police prepare a report and assess whether anyone should face charges, such as reckless driving or negligence.
Families may choose to file complaints, which determines if the case moves forward. If charges are filed, the prosecutor reviews the case and it may proceed to court for trial and judgment.
In the Philippines, motorcycles are involved in a large portion of road accidents.
According to data from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Philippine Statistics Authority, motorcycles account for roughly 50% to 60% of all road traffic accidents in the country, even though they make up about a third of registered vehicles.
Many accidents involve collisions with cars or trucks, loss of control, or riding in tandem.
Fatalities and serious injuries are more common among motorcycle riders and passengers because motorcycles offer less protection compared to cars.
Traffic congestion, poor road conditions, and non-compliance with safety measures like helmets also contribute to the high rate of motorcycle-related accidents.

In a previous report by KAMI, a family of three was mercilessly shot and killed inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Caught by CCTV, three men entered their store, closed the roll-up door, and shot the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspects even grabbed a bag and a mobile phone from the victim. In a report by Gary De Leon of TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the family started getting threats after lending P1-M to one of the residents of their barangay; allegedly using the money for business.
In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
