The suspect reportedly posed as a nurse and took the infant just two days after she was born.
The baby’s father, a 23-year-old member of an indigenous group, posted online to seek help and raise awareness about the incident.
Police Regional Office–SOCCSKSARGEN (PRO-12) spokesperson Major Rissa Hernaez said the woman pretended to be checking the baby’s condition when she approached the family.

“Yung unidentified female, dinescribe niya na siguro mga 5’2 ang height, medyo small built niya, siguro nasa late 20’s at nakadamit ito ng green uniform, black hijab, at meron siyang black face mask. In-introduce niya ang sarili niya na isang nurse staff doon sa hospital, yun kinuha niya yung infant,” Hernaez explained.
During a hot pursuit operation, police recovered an eco-bag in Barangay Avanceña containing the baby’s belongings. Investigators believe the suspect left it behind while escaping.
As of now, the woman remains at large, and police say she may be charged with violating Republic Act 7610, which provides special protection for children against abuse, exploitation, and discrimination.
Authorities are also scrutinizing the hospital’s security procedures to determine how the suspect was able to enter the facility and leave with the newborn.
Hernaez noted that investigators are checking whether security personnel were misled by the suspect’s uniform.
“Most probably, akala ng mga security doon sa provincial hospital ay talagang nurse siya. Yun ang tinitingnan natin… yung possible na ganyang uri ng mga modus na magsusuot ng uniform, okay lang ba na papasok without wearing IDs,” she said.
Police continue to urge the public to report any information that could help locate the suspect and safely recover the infant.

In a previous report by KAMI, a family of three was mercilessly shot and killed inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Caught by CCTV, three men entered their store, closed the roll-up door, and shot the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspects even grabbed a bag and a mobile phone from the victim. In a report by Gary De Leon of TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the family started getting threats after lending P1-M to one of the residents of their barangay; allegedly using the money for business.
In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
