A minor who sets a house on fire and breaks into someone else’s home is not sent to jail like an adult. Instead, the child is placed under the care of the local social welfare office.
Authorities assess the child’s age, needs, and background to decide what intervention is needed.
The minor may undergo counseling, rehabilitation, or other programs meant to correct behavior and protect their welfare. The parents or guardians are also involved in the process.
While the act is serious and the case is documented, the law focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment when the offender is below the minimum age of criminal responsibility.
