Authorities in San Jacinto, Pangasinan have taken a 16-year-old boy into custody after he allegedly set fire to a makeshift storage shed owned by his relatives.

The incident unfolded earlier this week and left the family stunned, especially after learning that the teen had also reportedly broken into the homeowner’s residence just days before the blaze.

According to a report from GMA Regional TV aired on "Balitanghali" on Friday, panic quickly spread in the neighborhood when people were seen rushing away upon noticing smoke rising from the property.

The makeshift shed, which contained various stuffed toys, was already engulfed in flames as firefighters responded to the scene. They managed to put out the fire before it spread further.

The owner later reviewed the CCTV footage and was shocked to see that their young relative appeared to be inside the premises while the shed was burning.

This discovery came on top of another troubling revelation: three days prior, the same minor had allegedly broken into their home.

The boy, whose identity is being withheld due to his age, is now under the care of the municipal social welfare department. He has not issued any public statement regarding the incident.

Police confirmed tha the teenager admitted to starting the fire, though he did not explain what drove him to do it. As authorities continue their investigation, the family is left grappling with the sudden turmoil caused by someone they trusted within their own household.

According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big argument.
