The victim, identified as 26-year-old RC John Rodriguez, was among those swept away by the flash flood that struck the town on November 4.
According to his mother, Sirilla Rodriguez, she had urged her only son to evacuate that day.
“I told him to leave before the flood worsens,” she said, adding that RC John replied he would first “check the situation.”

She did not know that her son was planning to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts.
Sirilla revealed that RC John had long been helping in rescue missions, even though she never gave him her consent due to the risks involved.
Despite her pleas, he went out to help move elderly residents to safer ground as floodwaters surged.
Tragically, while RC John and other rescuers were assisting evacuees, a portion of the bridge they were standing on gave way, causing him to be swept away by the strong current.
His lifeless body was later discovered that evening in Sitio Nahalinan, Barangay Robles.
RC John, the family’s only child, is being remembered for his selflessness and courage. Support poured in from RMN Oplan Tabang, iFM Bacolod, and DYHB, who reached out to assist his bereaved family.
