Woman arrested for sneaking contraband inside Dagupan City Jail

A woman was taken into custody after she allegedly attempted to smuggle illegal substance into the city jail in Dagupan City.

According to a report on GMA Regional TV, she was supposed to visit her live-in partner who is detained inside the facility.

During inspection, jail officers discovered a small packet of suspected shabu wrapped in bond paper.

The substance weighed around three grams and had a value of more than P20,000.

Police said the woman did not give any statement regarding the incident.

She is now facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.

Authorities reminded the public that all visitors entering jails are strictly checked, and anyone caught trying to bring in prohibited items will be arrested and charged.

The investigation continues to confirm how she obtained the illegal substance and if other individuals were involved.

The Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 is a law in the Philippines that aims to prevent and punish the use, sale, production, and traffick!ng of illegal drug. It strengthens the rules against drug-related crimes, gives authorities the power to arrest and investigate offenders, and sets penalties such as long prison terms and heavy fines.
