A 23-year-old man was arrested by Las Piñas City police during his child’s baptism in Imus, Cavite, on Sunday afternoon, November 2.

Authorities identified him as the suspect in the shooting of a police officer in Pasay City last August 23.

Police Colonel Sandro Jay Tafalla, chief of Las Piñas City Police Station, said the suspect was also linked to a robbery incident that happened after the August 23 shooting.

A resident from Las Piñas was reportedly robbed of a bracelet worth ₱300,000 by suspects riding a motorcycle.

Tafalla added that the suspect is part of a robbery group operating in Manila.

Their usual method is to ride around on motorcycles, look for victims wearing expensive jewelry or watches, and attack them. If the victims resist, they shoot.

The same man was also tagged in the shooting of an intelligence officer from the Highway Patrol Group in Makati City last August 1.

Police also said he had a record of road rage in Bacoor City in 2023 and now faces a case of grave threats because of that.

When arrested, he was found carrying a 9mm gun and several bullets, leading to an additional charge of illegal possession of firearms.

The suspect refused to comment and said he would face the accusations in court.

Police are also preparing to file a robbery with hom!cide case against him.

He is currently detained at the Las Piñas City Police Station.

According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
