One dead, three injured in construction site accident at BGC

A construction worker was killed while three others sustained injuries following an accident at a building site in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on Monday morning, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Based on the police report, the incident occurred at around 11:10 a.m. while workers were installing rebars in the Basement 2 area of a structure under construction along 34th Street.
During the process, part of the site reportedly collapsed, trapping the workers underneath.
The victims were immediately taken to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig, but one of them was declared dead on arrival, police confirmed.

In a report by Sam Nielsen for Super Radyo dzBB, authorities said the workers were setting up a concrete column when the collapse happened.
Site area manager Herley Tagatac identified the victims as steelmen who were in the middle of rebar installation when the accident occurred.
Tagatac added that the company has committed to covering the medical expenses of the injured workers.
Following the tragedy, construction operations at the site have been temporarily suspended while authorities conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Safety inspectors are also expected to assess whether proper protocols and structural safety measures were being observed prior to the collapse.
The NCRPO has also assured the public that there will be a full report that will be released once the investigation concludes.
