An 11-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by lightning inside their home in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.

The victim, identified as Nataniel, was the eldest among five children of Daniel Palic, whose wife is currently expecting their sixth.

According to Palic, he was unaware that lightning had hit their home until he found his son already injured. Despite being fatally struck, Nataniel was able to speak a few words before passing away.

“Wala nako pa” were his last words, Palic tearfully recalled. Moments later, Nataniel succumbed to his injuries.

In a tragic coincidence, Palic revealed that his father-in-law — Nataniel’s grandfather — had also been struck by lightning years earlier.

Although he suffered injuries to his leg and chest, he survived the ordeal.

Authorities have since urged residents to take precautions during thunderstorms, reminding the public to unplug electrical devices and stay away from metal objects even when indoors.

Experts note that lightning can still enter homes through wiring, plumbing, or open spaces.

As the Palic family grieves their son’s untimely death, they are left with the haunting memory of his final words — a painful reminder of how swiftly tragedy can strike.
