Burglar enters a house in Quezon City, steals 2 cellphones

A man was caught on CCTV breaking into a rented house in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, where he stole two cellphones belonging to local vendors.

According to a report by James Agustin on Unang Balita on Wednesday, the incident happened before 4 a.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect was seen peeking into the house before entering.

After noticing a CCTV camera, he tried to unplug it, not realizing another camera was still recording him.

Moments later, he was seen inside, looking around and checking a bag but finding nothing valuable.

He then went upstairs and entered a room quietly.

When he came out, he was already carrying two cellphones owned by banana vendors who had been renting the place for a while. One of the victims said they only realized what happened after reviewing the CCTV footage that morning.

They also shared that the suspect had been spotted loitering in the area several times before the break-in.

The victims expressed frustration, saying the stolen phones were important for work and personal records, including medical details for a sick child.

Barangay Payatas officials said the suspect is a resident of the same area and has been accused of theft several times before.

However, no charges were filed in previous cases because the victims agreed to settle.

Authorities are now coordinating with the suspect’s relatives to locate him, while the victims hope their stolen phones will still be recovered.

Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
