A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a passenger jeepney along Marcos Highway in Barangay Santolan, Pasig City, claimed the life of a female passenger on Monday night.

According to a Balitanghali report on GTV this Tuesday, police investigations revealed that the jeepney was about to make a U-turn when it accidentally collided with the motorcycle traveling on the same lane.

The impact threw the motorcycle’s two riders off balance, killing the woman instantly while the male driver was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The jeepney driver is currently under the custody of the Pasig City Police Station and has refused to give a statement regarding the incident. His operator said the vehicle had just begun its trip when the collision occurred.

In a separate road mishap on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, another passenger jeepney plowed into plastic and concrete barriers. According to the Quezon City Police District Traffic Sector, eight people were on board, including the driver.

Five of them sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses claimed the jeepney was speeding and even tried to overtake another jeepney and a taxi before the crash. However, the driver insisted that the vehicle lost its brakes, forcing him to steer away from other cars before hitting the barriers.

Authorities have detained the driver, who is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and multiple physical injuries

Still in other news, a classroom ceiling at Lapu-Lapu Elementary School in Davao City collapsed during class on October 7, 2025.
