Investigators said the accident happened around 1:00 a.m. Sunday along Sinsuat Street. CCTV footage showed the MPV slowly crossing the road when the victim’s speeding motorcycle suddenly appeared and slammed into the side of the vehicle.
The impact killed the rider on the spot, while the MPV’s driver and passenger sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“Two men were drag racing. When they reached the crossing at Sinsuat St., one vehicle was about to make a right turn. Unfortunately, one of the racers passed through safely, but the other motorcycle drag racer crashed into the vehicle,” said Kidapawan City Police Chief Lt. Col. Jose Marie Simangan.

Authorities said discussions between both parties involved are still ongoing.
Simangan also admitted that catching drag racers is not an easy task because they have their own lookouts.
“We received reports that they have spotters. It means they monitor our patrol cars passing along the highway or main road in Kidapawan. When no patrol vehicles are around, that’s when they start their drag racing,” he explained.
Police continue to remind the public that illegal street racing poses serious risks to both racers and other motorists.
