A tragic accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman in Barangay Bukal, Jomalig, Quezon, after he was accidentally electrocuted while attempting to remove a light bulb on Sunday morning, October 5, 2025.

According to a report from the Quezon Provincial Police Office, the victim was performing maintenance work inside the barangay’s covered basketball court when he came into contact with a live electrical current.

The shock caused him to collapse and sustain serious injuries before bystanders rushed to his aid.

Responding residents immediately brought the victim to the Jomalig Rural Health Unit (RHU) for emergency medical treatment.

However, due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to the Claro M. Recto Memorial Hospital in Infanta, Quezon. Upon arrival, attending physicians pronounced him dead.

Authorities confirmed that the incident was accidental, with no signs of foul play. Investigators are reminding the public to observe proper safety precautions when handling electrical fixtures, especially in public facilities.

Local officials and community members expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the young SK chairman, who was known for his dedication to serving the youth of Barangay Bukal.

The local government of Jomalig is expected to extend support to the bereaved family as they mourn the sudden loss of their community leader.
