Authorities in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur, are investigating a gruesome discovery after a man’s body was found inside a drum along a roadside in Barangay Malala.

The victim had multiple stab and hack wounds and had been missing for several days before being found.
According to a report by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on Monday, residents and motorists noticed the drum and immediately alerted local police after detecting a foul odor coming from it.
Responding officers confirmed that a male body was stuffed inside the container and bore several wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon.

Police later identified the deceased as a laborer and resident of Datu Paglas.
The man’s family had earlier reported him missing on October 2, 2025, according to the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR).
Investigators are now working to determine who may be behind the crime and the possible motive for the brutal killing. Authorities have yet to confirm how long the body had been kept inside the drum before it was discovered.
Police have assured the public that all angles are being considered, including personal conflict and work-related disputes, as part of their ongoing investigation.
Community members have been urged to come forward with any information that could help identify the perpetrator and bring justice to the victim’s family.
