In an interview with Balita, Dr. Bianca Lopez Salimbangon said she met Briana while leading a feeding and water distribution activity on the island.
She learned about the family’s loss only after visiting the area.
According to her, Briana was smiling the entire time she carried her, which broke her heart even more, knowing how innocent the baby was to everything that happened.
Dr. Salimbangon also found out that Briana’s grandfather helped with the rescue, while her late father was once a rescuer himself who saved a life just two months ago.
Now under her grandparents’ care, Briana is surrounded by family who are doing their best to raise her.
The doctor said the family still needs help with the baby’s essentials like milk, vitamins, and diapers.
A donation drive has been launched to support Baby Briana and her caregivers as they rebuild their lives after the tragedy.
