At the height of the typhoon, FO1 Bolaño was on duty at the Masbate City Fire Station, committed to serving his community as strong winds and heavy rains battered the province. Unknown to him, danger was unfolding at home.

The teenager was immediately rushed to the hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to severe head injuries.
