The DOJ has been probing contractors and officials over projects flagged as anomalous, and Discaya’s appearance formed part of the ongoing process of gathering evidence. Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the material she submitted.

Despite the humor in her brief comment, the inquiry into the flood control projects remains a serious matter, with the potential to affect multiple parties linked to the contracts.

Last week, contractors Pacifico “Curlee” and Sarah Discaya went to the DOJ to seek inclusion in the Witness Protection Program (WPP). Curlee, detained by the Senate for contempt, presented his affidavit for review by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla. The couple offered to name lawmakers, staff, and DPWH officials allegedly tied to flood control corruption but must return ill-gotten wealth first. DOJ stressed that WPP protection is a privilege, warning that false testimony could lead to perjury charges or detention. The Discasayas previously expressed willingness to become state witnesses in exchange for revealing the names of lawmakers, staff, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials allegedly involved in corruption.

In a contentious session of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, businesswoman and contractor Sarah Discaya staunchly defended the origins of her family's substantial wealth, claiming it was the result of two decades in the construction business, not preferential treatment from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Appearing before the committee, which is probing alleged anomalies in government flood control projects, she addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video interview where she discussed her riches. She insisted the video was "spliced" to create a misleading narrative, omitting the crucial context that her family had been in the industry for 23 years before securing large-scale government contracts with the DPWH.
