According to a report from GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, the family was aboard a tricycle driven by the father when unidentified assailants opened fire on them.

The father was killed on the spot, while his 32-year-old wife and their 16-year-old daughter were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.

The sole survivor of the attack is the family's 11-year-old son, who sustained injuries but is now receiving medical attention.

He is currently recovering in a local hospital. The family, identified as residents of Cotabato City, was reportedly on their way home when they were ambushed.

The police have not yet released the names of the victims, pending proper notification of relatives.

Authorities from the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) are now leading the investigation.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jopy Ventura, spokesperson for PRO-BAR, confirmed that the motive for the attack and the identities of the suspects remain unknown.

Sa ngayon, unidentified pa yung suspects natin, same with the motives," Lt. Col. Ventura stated. Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including personal disputes, land conflicts, or a history of clan feuds, locally known as "rido," that could have led to the ambush.

The police are also calling on witnesses to come forward with any information that could help them in their pursuit of justice.

The incident has caused fear and alarm among local residents, who are now concerned about their safety.

The authorities have vowed to intensify security operations in the area to prevent similar incidents from occurring and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The victims’ remains are currently in a local funeral home as police continue to investigate the details of the crime scene and follow all leads.

The tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the challenges in maintaining peace and order in some parts of the region.

In addition to the stolen laptop, authorities recovered an unregistered firearm and ammunition from the suspect. The suspect has a prior criminal record for a similar offense in Makati in 2020 and is on a barangay watchlist.
