These influencers gained attention for showing off luxury lifestyles, lavish travels, and extravagant parties, raising questions about where the money came from.
According to Sotto, people used to admire such displays of wealth, but times have changed.
With the flood control issue in the spotlight, many have begun to question these lavish posts.
He said this shift in public thinking is actually a good thing because it pushes people to reflect more deeply.
Sotto also shared that he knows many wealthy people who own big businesses, but they do not flaunt their riches in the same way.
He added that while stories of success used to be celebrated as rags to riches, the trend today seems closer to robs to riches, which he finds disappointing.

In a previous report by KAMI, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto released a statement after his controversial criticism of some media personalities who allegedly received payment from the Discaya couple. The mayor clarified that his point was not to seek attention, but to spark discussion on issues that the media and government must address as part of improving the country. In the pilot episode of “Models of Manila,” Sotto said that the first step to change is acknowledging and accepting the problem, even before accountability. Meanwhile, Julius Babao and Korina Sanchez strongly denied the allegations that they received money from the Discaya couple in exchange for interviews.
Adding to the buzz, actor Gardo Versoza also became a topic of discussion after posting about Vico Sotto.
