Bridge in Albay collapses because of an overloaded truck

A bridge in Purok 5, Ilawod, Camalig, Albay collapsed on Thursday, August 28, after an overloaded truck crossed it.
The incident happened past 2:00 in the afternoon and was witnessed by local residents.
Based on the investigation of the Municipal Engineering Office, the truck was too heavy and went beyond the weight limit.
The bridge, which was meant only for light vehicles, gave way and suffered major damage.

Residents explained that the truck may have taken the bridge because road and dike construction was ongoing in the area, limiting other routes.
Authorities quickly responded, and with the help of a backhoe, the truck was removed from the collapsed bridge.

The Local Government Unit immediately coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the second district.
Repair works on the bridge were scheduled to begin the next day, Friday, August 29.
Albay is best known for the world-famous Mayon Volcano, admired for its perfect cone shape and often called the pride of the province.
It is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Philippines, attracting both local and international visitors.

The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
