The leader of a Gapos Gang who robbed a rice store in Bocaue, Bulacan, was arrested and found to be a police officer assigned in Batangas.
According to a report by John Consulta on GMA News’ 24 Oras, CCTV footage showed five armed men wearing bonnets entering the rice store last Saturday.
They tied up the people inside before taking money and valuables. Police Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones explained that the group’s style was to wait for victims to open the door, then storm inside, tie them up, and steal everything they could.
On Wednesday, the gang also attacked a soft drinks warehouse. In the footage, one suspect’s face mask slipped, showing his identity.

Police later tracked him down and arrested him. The suspect was identified as Police Staff Sergeant Miguel Andrew Oñate, 34, from the Tanauan Police in Batangas.
Recovered from Oñate were a .45 caliber gun, ammunition, a fake gun, a bolt cutter, cellphones, a vehicle plate, and coins taken from the warehouse.
The victims also positively identified him as one of the robbers. Authorities said Oñate admitted that his group had already victimized three establishments, usually committing robberies during his days off.
Police added that he rented a vehicle in Laguna which was used for their crimes. The suspect remains in custody and is facing multiple charges but has yet to release a statement.
