A 40-year-old hunter died after allegedly being shot by his companion, who claimed he mistook him for a wild boar during a hunt in the mountains along the tri-boundary of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Abra.

The incident happened on Monday morning, and when police arrived, they found the victim already lying lifeless on the ground.

His companion explained that it was an accident, saying he thought the victim was a wild boar.

However, police later revealed a different angle. According to Police Captain Elison Pasamonte, chief of Badoc Police Station, their investigation showed that the suspect actually shot the victim following a heated argument about how they would divide the wild boar they caught.
