A tragic accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old female student after the tricycle she was riding with three other classmates plunged into an irrigation canal in Echague, Isabela.

According to a report from GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Tuesday, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Barangay Maligaya.
Police investigation revealed that the tricycle was driven by a male student, who was also transporting three female classmates on board.
The group was reportedly on their way back to school when the driver allegedly lost control of the steering wheel, causing the tricycle to swerve and fall into the irrigation canal.

The student driver and two of the female passengers managed to climb out of the water. However, one female student was unable to make it to safety.
Rescue teams immediately conducted search operations but failed to locate the missing student that same day.
Her lifeless body was later found the following morning.
Authorities have yet to release further details about the incident, including possible charges against the student driver.
The family of the victim and those involved in the accident have not yet issued any statements.
Local officials reminded the public, particularly young drivers, about the dangers of operating vehicles without proper training or licenses.
Road safety advocates have also urged schools and parents to monitor students’ means of transportation to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
