Two men were killed after a gunfight with police at a checkpoint in Calauag, Quezon.

The incident happened after the suspects managed to escape from a buy-bust operation earlier. According to Quezon Police, they immediately set up a checkpoint to block the suspects’ possible exit route.

When the two men reached the checkpoint, they refused to stop and instead opened fire at the police.

This led to a chase and exchange of gunfire that ended with the deaths of the suspects.

Authorities later found one of them dead inside the car, while the other was discovered lying on the side of the highway.

Police confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident. Investigators also said that one of the suspects was believed to be part of a gun-for-hire group.

The recovered vehicle and firearms will undergo examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police also said that they are strengthening their operations in the area to prevent similar incidents, especially since Quezon has been identified as an area where gun-for-hire groups are active.
