She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 18, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m. According to initial reports from the Tuburan Municipal Police Station, eyewitnesses saw the student collapse in the middle of her performance and begin to experience a seizure.
School staff and emergency responders quickly attended to her and transported her to the Tuburan District Hospital.
Despite their rapid response, the attending physician declared her dead just 15 minutes later.
According to a statement from the victim’s mother, her daughter had not been feeling well but insisted on attending school to perform.
The mother believed her daughter’s condition was linked to a previous school event. She mentioned that her daughter was experiencing muscle pain and body aches, which she attributed to her participation in a school-sponsored fun run activity held just two days earlier on August 16.
The tragic turn of events has left the school community and local residents in a state of shock and mourning.
In an effort to determine the exact cause of death, the police recommended that an autopsy be performed on the victim's body.
However, the family, through the mother, has since waived and refused the examination. While this decision prevents authorities from confirming a specific medical cause, the incident has highlighted the need for schools to closely monitor the health of students, especially when they are involved in strenuous physical activities.
The school has expressed its deepest condolences and is cooperating with the authorities and the family in their time of grief.
This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the unforeseen health risks that can affect even young, seemingly healthy individuals.
It has also prompted discussions within the community regarding the safety protocols for school events and the importance of students prioritizing their well-being, even when they feel the pressure to participate.
