A dispute between former lovers in Bacolod City has been settled after a bizarre incident at the Libertad Public Market involving bananas and papayas, Bombo Radyo reported.

The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, showed a man angrily grabbing and throwing bananas and papayas being sold by his ex-girlfriend.

Witnesses said the outburst stemmed from the man’s desire to rekindle their relationship — a request the woman had already rejected.

In the video, the man can be seen pushing the fruit displays toward the woman, before picking up the produce and hurling it at her.

Shocked bystanders looked on as the heated confrontation unfolded in the busy market.

Police later identified the individuals involved and brought the matter to the attention of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Bacolod City Police Office.

According to Police Captain Ma Liberty Indiape, who heads the unit, both parties have already reached a settlement. The woman decided not to pursue any formal charges against her former partner.

Authorities reminded the public that such incidents, while resolved in this case, could lead to legal consequences under laws addressing harassment, physical assault, or property damage.

They also encouraged individuals experiencing disputes with former partners to seek peaceful and legal avenues for resolution rather than resorting to public confrontations.

The unusual case has drawn mixed reactions online, with many expressing disapproval over the man’s actions while others pointed to the importance of walking away from relationships that have already ended.
