The arrest, which took place in Santo Tomas, Batangas, is a significant blow to an organized group believed to be supplying illegal firearms to criminal elements in the region.
The operation was initiated following a tip-off about a syndicate illegally selling firearms in Batangas and surrounding provinces.

The PNP-CIDG's Acting Director, Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, confirmed the success of the entrapment.
"Isang organized group ito," he stated. "we're checking kung ano ang extent ng kanilang operation."
During the sting, authorities seized three brand-new, high-powered rifles, along with several magazines and boxes of ammunition.
The discovery of firearms with parts marked "USA" has prompted a deeper investigation into how these weapons are being smuggled into the country.
According to the PNP-CIDG, the high-quality and new condition of the seized firearms suggest that they are not locally made, but part of a larger, well-funded criminal enterprise.
While the primary suspect was taken into custody, an accomplice managed to escape during the chaos of the arrest.
The CIDG is now actively pursuing the second individual, believing he holds key information that could lead them to the rest of the syndicate's members and their supply chain.
Police Brigadier General Abrahano also expressed his concern about the potential clients for these illegal weapons.
"Usual clients ‘yan, number one, siyempre ‘yung mga aficionados," he noted. "Pero ang kinatatakot nga namin ‘yung criminal groups, mga gun for hire. Kasi siyempre, instrument of crime ito eh. Kailangan talaga masawatahan natin."
This highlights the broader security implications of illegal gun traff1cking, which can fuel other criminal activities and threaten public safety.
The arrested suspect is now facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act 10591).
As of this report, the suspect has yet to issue a statement. The PNP-CIDG has vowed to intensify its investigation and coordination with other law enforcement agencies to dismantle the entire gunrunning syndicate and curb the flow of illegal weapons in the country.
