A 35-year-old Filipino tourist lost his life following a vehicular mishap in Tsuen Wan West, Hong Kong, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Wednesday, August 6.

“The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong confirms that a 35-year-old Filipino tourist has died due to injuries sustained in a vehicular accident in Tsuen Wan West on 05 August 2025,” the DFA said in an official statement.
As per the Consulate General, the victim’s remains have been transferred to the Kwai Chung Public Mortuary for proper custody.
“The Consulate General offers its deepest condolences to the deceased’s family and prays for his eternal rest,” it added.

The DFA assured that the Consulate General is extending necessary assistance to the bereaved family and is coordinating their travel to Hong Kong to facilitate arrangements for repatriating the remains.
On the other hand, authorities have already taken into custody the taxi driver implicated in the accident.
“The Consulate General is closely coordinating with the Hong Kong Police Force while the official investigation of the case is ongoing,” the DFA stated.
Additionally, the DFA emphasized that the Consulate General remains in constant communication with Hong Kong law enforcement to monitor the developments of the investigation.

Still in other news, four individuals were injured in an explosion on Tayuman and Dagupan Streets in Tondo, Manila. The blast was caused by a dismantled air-conditioning compressor that was being scavenged. One of the victims sustained a severed hand and another suffered a jaw injury, while two others had minor injuries. The Manila Police District's Explosive Ordnance Division and Scene of the Crime Operatives are investigating the incident and have ruled out a bomb as the cause.
