According to authorities, the woman, who was on the final leg of her long journey home, suffered an Acute Ischemic Attack, commonly known as a mild stroke.

Police Lieutenant Stephen Polinar, the spokesperson for the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, confirmed the findings in an interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod.

The victim, identified as Wilma Auza, a 41-year-old single woman, was found unresponsive on a passenger bus traveling from Dumaguete.

Her death marks a heartbreaking end to an arduous and long-awaited journey back to her family.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, August 5, came after Auza had completed a complicated route home. Her travel documents indicate a multi-stage journey that began in Kuwait, with a connecting flight in Japan before arriving in Metro Manila.

From there, she traveled by bus to Cebu, crossed to Dumaguete via a RORO ferry, and finally boarded a bus bound for her hometown in Barangay San Isidro, Manjuyod. It was on this final bus ride that tragedy struck.

According to a previous report, fellow passengers noticed Auza appearing ill and vomiting before she fell asleep.

It was only when they were unable to wake her that they raised the alarm. Responders and police were called to the scene.

The official confirmation that her death was caused by a stroke sheds new light on the events, suggesting that her symptoms were a manifestation of a serious medical episode.

Still in other news, a 71-year-old woman lost her ₱6,000 pension after a pickpocket stole her wallet outside a printing shop in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City, on July 30. CCTV footage shows the suspect distracting the elderly couple by asking them to write on a piece of paper while discreetly stealing the wallet from the victim's red bag. The couple had waited six months for the pension, which was meant for medical expenses, including the dialysis treatments of their child. Barangay officials confirmed the suspect had targeted another senior citizen earlier; the stolen wallet was later found, but the ₱6,000 cash was missing.
