The Department of Health (DOH) announced that the six people injured in the air compressor explosion in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday, August 3, will not have to pay any hospital bills at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC). This follows President Bongbong Marcos’ directive under the “Bayad na Bill Mo” or “Zero Balance Billing” program, which covers basic accommodation in DOH hospitals.
According to the DOH, three of the victims have already undergone surgery and are recovering in the surgical intensive care unit. Another patient, currently in the surgical ward, is scheduled for an operation due to facial injuries from the blast.
The youngest victim, a 14-year-old boy, sustained a traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures in both legs, severe damage to his right arm, and abrasions from his head to his chest. Meanwhile, two other victims have been discharged after sustaining only mild injuries.
The explosion happened at the corner of Dagupan and Tayuman streets in Manila, injuring six people, including a minor and a senior citizen.

Initial investigation by the Manila Police District’s Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD/K9) revealed that the victims were trying to dismantle a pressurized compressor without knowing the dangers involved.
Authorities continue to remind the public about the risks of handling or tampering with pressurized equipment to prevent similar incidents.

Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
