A laborer was allegedly stabbed to death by his brother-in-law following a heated argument in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, August 2, Manila Bulletin reported.

Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., chief of the Kabankalan City Police, identified the victim as 26-year-old Lloyd.
According to the initial investigation, Lloyd and his brother-in-law, 33-year-old Anton, were having a conversation at their residence when a misunderstanding erupted.
The altercation quickly escalated, prompting Anton to grab a kitchen knife and stab Lloyd multiple times. The victim sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot before medical assistance could arrive.

Following the incident, Anton surrendered to barangay officials and voluntarily handed over the knife he used in the attack.
He was immediately turned over to responding police officers for further investigation and custody.
Authorities noted that Anton was allegedly a drug addict. However, investigators are still verifying if he was under the influence of illegal substances at the time of the incident.
The victim’s family expressed their intent to press charges against Anton. They are preparing to file a formal complaint for murder.
