In an interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod, Police Major Eugene Tolentino, chief of Bacolod Police Station 2, identified the vehicle owner as Glendel Depasucat, who runs a rent-a-car business.
Depasucat immediately reported to the police after seeing social media posts showing his SUV with deflated tires, which caused alarm among netizens who assumed it was being vandalized or stripped for parts.
According to Depasucat, the vehicle was rented on July 4 by a man identified only as "Alias Joel," a resident of Cavite, for a daily rate of P2,500. However, by July 18, Joel had stopped paying and became unreachable.

Using a GPS tracker, Depasucat traced the SUV’s location to Barangay 8, where it had been left parked along the roadside. Police believe Joel intentionally abandoned the vehicle after failing to pay the rental dues, which had already reached P37,500.
Since the SUV was locked and the key was still with the renter, Depasucat could not retrieve the vehicle. Fearing that Joel might return to steal or further tamper with it, he decided to deflate all four tires to prevent it from being driven away.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to locate the renter and resolve the unpaid dues.
