A 21-year-old construction worker was arrested in Quezon City after being accused of taking advantage of a minor.

According to police, the 13-year-old girl became pregnant, which led her parents to find out about the abuse and file a complaint.

The suspect had an arrest warrant for three counts of statutory rape.

Investigators said the first incident happened in January last year when the girl was invited to the suspect’s birthday at his house.

Authorities are unsure when the third incident happened, but by then, the girl was already pregnant.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Luis Aguirre, commander of the La Loma Police Station, said that the suspect is number four on the Quezon City Police District’s Most Wanted Persons list, and number one in the La Loma area.

The suspect had just been released from jail last April for a case involving illegal gambling. Despite the accusations, he denies any wrongdoing.

Police have already submitted a return of warrant and are now waiting for the court to issue a commitment order so he can remain in custody while his case proceeds.
