Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla revealed on Tuesday that a new witness has surfaced in the case of the missing sabungeros.

He said this witness supports the claims of Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, also known as Totoy, a former suspect who now wants to become a state witness.

According to Remulla, this new civilian witness strengthens Totoy’s credibility and brings not just testimony, but actual physical evidence.

Totoy earlier claimed that over 100 sabungeros were kidnapped, killed, and their bodies dumped in Taal Lake.

Remulla also met with PNP Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III at the Department of Justice to discuss the involvement of police officers in the case.

He requested the removal of a certain commander from handling the case, which the PNP chief agreed to.

Although the officer is not directly involved in the case, Remulla said he lost trust in him due to some actions.

Remulla stressed that trust is crucial for witnesses to come forward and help solve the case.

He clarified that the relieved officer is not part of the 12 policemen facing an administrative case recommended by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

Remulla plans to meet with NAPOLCOM officials and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. this week to further discuss the case’s progress.
