A 38-year-old lineman of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) died after being electrocuted while working in Barangay Lo-ok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Friday, July 25.

The victim was identified by police as Jovi Bulfa, a resident of Barangay Bantayanon, Calatrava.
According to initial investigations, Bulfa was performing maintenance work when he accidentally came into contact with a secondary electrical line, leading to his electrocution.
Bulfa was quickly rescued by his co-worker, with assistance from the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management personnel. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

Noneco expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Bulfa and extended condolences to his family.
In a heartfelt statement, Noneco honored his contributions, saying, “Thank you, Jovi for your unwavering courage, your selfless service, and the light you brought into the lives of others.”
“Your compassion and dedication will never be forgotten. You will always be remembered and honored. May you rest in eternal peace,” the statement added.
Bulfa’s untimely death serves as a grim reminder of the risks faced daily by linemen and field workers who ensure the delivery of essential services despite hazardous conditions.
