Passenger Kimberly Nakamura was on a flight from Manila to Singapore on June 28, 2025.

Upon arriving in Singapore, she discovered that her jewelry box—containing her wedding ring, her husband’s ring, a diamond necklace, and a pair of earrings—was missing from her tote bag.

She immediately inquired at the Changi Airport airline desk, but staff said the box wasn’t found on the plane or at the airport.

Nakamura returned to Manila days later and, with assistance from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and Airport Police Department, reviewed several hours of CCTV footage.

In the footage, Nakamura said, “Unidentified person stole my wedding ring and then next 'yung wedding ring ng husband ko was stolen, and then the jewelry box with the diamond necklace inside.”
She added, “Identified all the personnel who touched and who saw the box, but none of them had the heart to surrender the item to the lost and found.”

The Airport Police questioned the airline staff seen handling the jewelry box. After Nakamura threatened to press charges, the items were returned the following day.

“Nagtuturuan na lang silang lahat... within 24 hours, if they don't return the rings, I will continue to press charges,” she stated.

Despite the return, MIAA General Manager Eric Ines said the probe continues due to protocol violations by the airline staff.
