Authorities are now focusing their investigation on jealousy as the primary motive behind the killing, with a former partner of Caluza's live-in girlfriend identified as a person of interest.
Caluza was last seen in the early morning of June 24, reportedly riding his motorcycle from Trece Martires towards Dasmariñas.
A man, now a central figure in the investigation, was seen riding pillion with him. This passenger has been identified as the former live-in partner of Caluza's current girlfriend, Grace, and is also the father of her child.
The grim discovery was made at a construction site where the identified person of interest reportedly worked as a foreman.
The last known GPS location of Caluza's motorcycle pointed to this specific area, prompting law enforcement to intensify their search there.
Upon initial inspection, authorities noted suspicious behavior from construction workers present at the site, who reportedly fled when police approached.
Further raising suspicions, the operating system of a backhoe at the site indicated it had been used for several hours before the typical workday commenced.
This prompted investigators to request the construction company to conduct an excavation of the area. It was during this excavation that Caluza's body was uncovered, confirming fears of foul play.
The motive for the killing appears rooted in a deeply personal dispute. Grace, Caluza's live-in partner, revealed that just three days before Caluza went missing, her former partner had allegedly forcibly taken her and compelled her to stay with him and their child.
He then reportedly demanded that Caluza transport him to work, an encounter that proved to be the last time Jayjay Caluza was seen alive.
Grace recounted a chilling threat made by her former partner to Caluza. "Binantaan niya po si Jayjay na ano, papatayin kung hindi daw po ako sumama, kaya sumama na po ako," Grace stated in a report.
She further clarified her relationship with the former partner, saying, "Wala po akong pagmamahal doon sa lalaking ‘yun eh. ‘Yung sustento lang po niyang pera ‘yung inaano ko kasi may anak din po kami non."
Moreover, Grace expressed her firm conviction that multiple individuals were involved in Caluza's death.
She claimed that her former partner had previously detailed plans for violence. "Hindi lang po isa ang gumawa noon. Tiyak po ako kasama ‘yung mga pinsan niya dun eh. Nasabi na niya po ‘yun eh, na aanuhin niya eh, baka pagtulungan nila ‘yun si Jayjay eh, ‘pag hindi ko pa daw nilayuan ‘yun eh. Sobrang sakit ng ginawa niya sa taong ‘yun. Nagtiwala ‘yun eh.
According to Caluza's mother, Carmelita Caluza, the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) report indicated her son suffered 12 stab wounds: four near the lungs and eight in the back. "Noon pong inano ng SOCO, labingdalawa daw po ang saksak niya eh, apat daw po dito sa may baga, tapos walo daw po sa likod. Talagang parang ginawa nilang hayop ang anak ko," Carmelita lamented, expressing her heartbreak and disbelief.
Police Captain Grenie Dolnagon, Naic Police deputy chief of police, affirmed that authorities are indeed looking into more than one person of interest in connection with the crime.
However, efforts to interview other potential witnesses at the construction site have been met with challenges, as many workers claimed they did not know anything or had only recently arrived in the area.
The victim's family is now appealing for public assistance to cover the expenses for Jayjay Caluza's funeral and burial.
"Sana po mahanap na siya at kung sino man po ang kasama niya. Gusto ko pong mabigyan ng hustisya ‘yung anak kong namatay," his mother, Carmelita, pleaded, echoing the family's desire for accountability and closure in this tragic case.
News, photos, or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media, due to the attention netizens give them. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, this could also happen to ordinary people, making them very relatable.
