A man lost both of his hands due to an explosion that occurred inside a gun and ammunition factory.

The loud blast, which took place inside the compound of Armscor Global Defense Inc. in Marikina City, was heard by nearby residents.

According to a report by GMA 7's '24 Oras,' Marikina police stated that the explosion happened at around 2 P.M. today.

Authorities also said that the cause of the explosion was what they referred to as the 'primer' of a bullet.

The man who lost both of his hands was the one holding the box of primer.

Based on the investigations, he was about to open it when it suddenly exploded.

The other 2 victims sustained wounds in the eye and the other one on his chest. All of them were brought to the AMANG RODRIQUEZ MEDICAL CENTER for immediate medical attention.

Armscor Global Defense Inc. is the largest firearms and ammunition manufacturer in the Philippines, based in Marikina City.

Originally founded as Squires Bingham Manufacturing, the company rebranded in 2017 to reflect its expanded role in defense.

It produces hundreds of thousands of firearms and millions of rounds of ammunition annually, with most of its output exported worldwide.

Armscor has invested heavily in advanced facilities and supports the government’s push for a self-reliant defense posture by developing locally designed weapons for the military and police.
