Teen dead, two children wounded after uncle attacks siblings in Cebu

A teenage boy was killed while his two younger siblings were severely injured after their own uncle attacked them with a bladed weapon inside their home in Barangay Owak, Asturias, Cebu, early Wednesday morning.

According to a report by Fe Marie Dumaboc on GMA Regional TV "Balitang Bisdak", the 18-year-old male victim died on the spot, while his siblings—aged 8 and 10—sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

Police identified the suspect as a 46-year-old man, the maternal uncle of the victims. Authorities said he surrendered to barangay officials shortly after the incident.

Initial investigations revealed that the motive may have stemmed from the suspect’s longstanding grudge against the children's father, as well as jealousy involving the teenage victim.

“Ang suspek at ang ama ng mga biktima ay matagal nang may personal na alitan. Posible na kung nandoon ang ama, baka siya ang pinagtaga. Pero wala siya roon. Isa pa sa mga dahilan ng suspek ay nagseselos siya sa biktima—na sinasabi raw niyang may relasyon sa kanyang asawa. Kwento lang niya iyon. Nagselos siya kaya niya pinagtataga, nawalan siya ng sarili, hindi niya nakontrol ang kanyang emosyon," said Police Senior Master Sergeant Bendie Nuñez of the Asturias Police Station.

At the time of the attack, the children’s parents were in Cebu City for the mother’s scheduled surgery. The suspect will be facing charges of murder and frustrated murder.

Still in other news, a 16-year-old girl in Antipolo accused a tricycle driver of forcibly taking her to a hotel instead of bringing her home after work around 3 a.m. The victim said the driver ignored her pleas and sped up when she asked to be let off, "binilisan pa niya lalo 'yung takbo ng tricycle niya, natatakot na po ako nun." At the hotel, CCTV showed the driver holding her arm, and the girl said: "hihingi po sana ako ng tulong kaso natatakot po ako sa kanya."
