Suspect arrested for robbing eatery in Quezon City, stealing P20,000

A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly robbing an eatery and taking P20,000 in earnings along Sauyo Road in Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to a report by James Agustin on Unang Balita this Thursday, police served an arrest warrant to the suspect—reportedly a construction worker—at his residence in Barangay Sauyo.

The suspect was wanted for a robbery that occurred in January, where he and an accomplice allegedly stormed into the eatery armed with a firearm and forcibly took P20,000 in cash.

The case was investigated by the Talipapa Police Station.

"Pinasok ho nila itong kainan gamit ang baril at kaniyang isang kasamahan at puwersahang kinuha itong P20,000. Itong ating akusado ay mailap at ito ay palipat-lipat na lugar kung saan meron kaming confidential informant na nagturo sa amin ng kaniyang kinararoonan,” said Police Captain Darwin Pua, duty officer of the Talipapa Police Station.

The suspect was listed as the top Most Wanted Person by QCPD Station 3. He also has a history of legal trouble, previously facing charges related to illegal g@mbling, violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, and the Anti-Carnapping Law.

Police have already filed a return of the warrant and are now waiting for the court to issue a commitment order for the suspect’s detention.

Authorities continue their search for the suspect's accomplice, while the case proceeds through the judicial system.

QCPD is reviewing CCTV footage and has urged the involved drivers to cooperate with the investigation. The incident has raised public concern over road safety and calls for stricter traffic enforcement in the area.

Still in other news, a 16-year-old girl in Antipolo accused a tricycle driver of forcibly taking her to a hotel instead of bringing her home after work around 3 a.m. The victim said the driver ignored her pleas and sped up when she asked to be let off, "binilisan pa niya lalo 'yung takbo ng tricycle niya, natatakot na po ako nun." At the hotel, CCTV showed the driver holding her arm, and the girl said: *"hihingi po sana ako ng tulong kaso natatakot po ako sa kanya." The hotel cashier refused to let them check in after suspecting something was wrong, prompting the girl to threaten to report the driver, who then fled the scene, according to ABS-CBN.
