College student found dead inside home in Dagupan; family cries for justice

A 23-year-old woman who was set to graduate from college next month was found dead inside their home in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

In a report by CJ Torida on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Wednesday, the victim was identified as Jezel Anne Gonzales, a resident of Barangay Pugaro.
According to her mother, Maria, Jezel slept alone in their old house. But by 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, she grew concerned when her daughter had yet to come out.
When she went to check on her, she found Jezel lying face down on the floor with a blanket covering her.

“Magulo umano ang buhok at namamaga ang mukha ng anak nang makita ng ina.”
Police Captain Joy Salvador, duty officer at the Dagupan City Police Station, confirmed there were injuries found on Jezel’s lips and neck.
“Posible umanong sinakal at sinuntok ang biktima,” she said.
Authorities have yet to identify a suspect, but they confirmed having a person of interest in the case.
An autopsy is also underway to determine the exact cause of death.
The grieving mother is calling for justice for her daughter, who had completed her studies in hospitality management and was supposed to attend her graduation next month.
“Hustisya naman ang panawagan ng ginang para sa kaniyang anak na nagtapos sa kursong hospitality management, at sa susunod na buwan sana ang graduation ceremony.”

According to the report of Brigada News Philippines, the incident happened on June 23, Purok Ilaya, Brgy. Tuyan, Naga, Cebu. The suspect, Satur, is 29 years old, while the victim, Mae, is 24. Mae said that the suspect borrowed her cellphone, and she suspected that he used her e-wallet to play on Scatter, eventually leading to an argument and to the assault.
