5 miners found dead inside a tunnel in Nueva Vizcaya

Five bodies of small-scale miners were reportedly discovered lifeless inside a tunnel.

Based on information from the authorities, as shared in a report by Inquirer, the bodies were found within the FCF Mining Corporation compound located in Barangay Runruno, Quezon town, on Tuesday, June 24.

The victims’ remains were discovered shortly after 1 A.M. by a 29-year-old resident named Russel Tumapang.

In the same report, it was stated that Tumapang entered the tunnel and found all five victims already unresponsive.

After the horrifying discovery of the victims' bodies, Tumapang immediately informed the village chief John Babliing.

In Inquirer's article, the victims were identified as Daniel Segundo Paggana, 47; Lipihon Ayudan, 56; and Florencio Indopia, 63, all residents of Barangay Runruno; Alfred Bilibli from Maddela, Quirino; and Joval Bantiyan from Barangay Cabuan, also in Maddela

He immediately alerted village chief John Babliing.

According to investigations, allegedly, the miners had been doing illegal operations at about 300 meters deep.

Unfortunately, that's when they became trapped, most likely due to lack of oxygen.

People from the the Quezon Police Station, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, all joined forces to help in the retrieval operation.

The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
