The child's remains were cremated and his ashes are now kept at their family home.

According to the boy’s father, they did not suspect rabies as the cause of the illness because the child had completed his anti-rabies vaccination on June 4—almost a month after the bite.

The timeline raises concerns about the critical importance of immediate post-exposure treatment and animal observation following any dog bite, even from a family pet.

The parents want an investigation into what happened to their child.

According to the hospital, it is still possible for a patient to die from rabies even if they have completed their vaccination.

Health experts continue to emphasize that rabies remains a deadly but preventable disease.

Once clinical symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal. Thus, timely medical intervention—including wound care, vaccine administration, and in some cases, rabies immunoglobulin—is crucial.

Authorities are reminding the public to treat all animal bites seriously, regardless of the animal’s behavior or domestic status, and to consult healthcare professionals immediately after any incident.
