In a Facebook post, Trillanes acknowledged the disappointment many Filipinos felt over the previous night’s events but highlighted several key takeaways to inspire optimism.
“Alam ko na maraming nadismaya sa mga kaganapan kagabi sa Senado,” he wrote, before outlining reasons to remain hopeful.
First, Trillanes praised five senators—Koko Pimentel, Risa Hontiveros, Grace Poe, Nancy Binay, and Win Gatchalian—who, he said, "tumindig at nakipaglaban para sa interest ng ating Demokrasya."

He lauded their moral fortitude despite knowing they would be outvoted.
Second, he emphasized that the Senate successfully convened as an impeachment court despite alleged efforts by the Duterte bloc to prevent it.
“Ibig sabihin rin nito na sakop na si Sara ng jurisdiction ng impeachment court,” he noted.
Third, he pointed out that the outright dismissal of the case did not push through as planned.
“Sa madaling salita, buhay pa ang kaso and WE LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY.”
Trillanes called on citizens to continue pushing for the trial to proceed, urging participation in street protests and online discourse.
“Iparamdam natin sa mga Senador ang ating saloobin,” he said, stressing the importance of public pressure.
He also mentioned, simply moving forward and continuing the fight.
"Ipagpatuloy natin ang ating pagtulak sa pagpatuloy ng impeachment trial para mapanagot si Sara sa kanyang mga krimen. Kailangan rin nating makilahok sa mga darating na pagkilos sa kalye at pag-iingay sa social media. Iparamdam natin sa mga Senador ang ating saloobin."
“Antabayanan po ninyo ang mga susunod nating hakbang. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” he concluded.
Antonio Trillanes is a former Senator of the Republic of the Philippines. He continues to be one of the staunchest critics of President Rodrigo Duterte and his allies. He is also known for his involvement in the Oakwood mutiny of 2003 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007 in protest against the Arroyo administration. Trillanes and his men were charged in a general court-martial. He was detained for nearly seven and a half years.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Trillanes could not help but cry while recalling some of the difficult moments in his life.
Earlier, he and Robin Padilla slammed each other’s views regarding the government’s response against the novel coronavirus disease pandemic. Trillanes first mentioned Robin on Twitter for the actor’s statement about Filipinos complaining amid the health crisis. Robin later on penned a lengthy Instagram post defending himself and the Duterte administration.
