Two individuals were arrested after allegedly attempting to steal jewelry from a store in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan on the afternoon of May 30, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.

CCTV footage captured the incident, showing how the theft was carried out.

While two salesladies were engaged in conversation with a pair of customers, a man stealthily opened a glass display case and took an entire sheet of jewelry.

He then tried to slip the items into the bag of a female accomplice.

However, the plan was thwarted when something fell from the display, alerting one of the salesladies.

Upon noticing the suspicious activity, she quickly reacted, forcing the suspects to panic.

The man fled the store immediately, while the woman left behind the bag where the stolen jewelry was intended to be hidden.

According to PCPL Emmanuel Gahit, the police investigator handling the case, the two customers distracting the salesladies may have been working with the suspects.

He noted that their coordinated movements suggested a planned group effort.

Thanks to the alertness and quick response of the store personnel, both suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident.

Authorities are now investigating the possible involvement of the two “customers” seen in the video.

The store management and local police praised the vigilance of the salesladies, whose swift actions prevented the loss of valuable merchandise and led to the arrest of the would-be thieves.

In other news, a 67-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by two unidentified suspects while transporting a passenger in Umingan, Pangasinan. The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to the chest and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while the passenger was unharmed. Police are still investigating, with motives such as a land dispute or revenge being considered.

Still in other news, a police officer was tragically killed in an ambush in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, early Tuesday morning. Police Executive Master Sergeant Geoffrey Angub succumbed to gunshot wounds. A quick and extensive hot pursuit operation led to the apprehension of the two suspects, a father and son, who were found hiding in Polomolok, South Cotabato. Isulan Police Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Julius Malcontento stated that initial investigations and witness testimonies point to a personal grudge as the motive behind the killing.
