Viral footage of the incident, shared by Naic MDRRMO via Jonathan Andal/GMA Integrated News, showed the officers, identified only as police personnel from Naic, responding with remarkable speed.

Despite being in a casual setting, they sprinted towards the moving pickup truck. One of the officers then discharged his firearm, targeting and successfully hitting the vehicle’s tires, effectively disabling it and preventing the driver from escaping further.

The driver, a senior citizen, was subsequently arrested by the Naic police, who said he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The video has garnered widespread attention and praise across social media platforms, highlighting the critical role of police vigilance and swift action.

Netizens lauded the officers’ “astig” (cool/awesome) and “mala-pelikula” (movie-like) response.
Comments flooded in, with many praising the officers’ immediate and effective intervention. “Galing ng mga police. 👏❤️ Naka ilang ulit ko pinanood, ang astig ng pag responde nila, wala ng paligoy ligoy, takbo agad. Mabilis. Mala pelikula,” one Instagram user remarked.
Another stated, “Good job sa ating Kapulisan! Ganyan dapat mabilis umaksyon! Salute!🫡🫡🫡”

However, the incident also sparked debate among some users regarding the protocol of shooting a vehicle’s tires during a vehicular accident.

One comment questioned, “WTF? protocol ba barilin ang vehicular accident?! Ano basis niya bumunit ng baril? That’s a bad precedent.”
Despite this, the overwhelming sentiment was one of approval for the officers' quick thinking in preventing potentially more severe harm. Many emphasized the benefit of “police visibility” and having “mabubuting police na anjan sa location mismo” (good police right there on location).

Concerns were also raised about the dangers of drunk driving, especially involving senior citizens. “Senior na kasi pinagmamaneho pa ayaw mag hire ng driver,” a user commented, while another added, “Dapat di na magdrive pag lasing.”
There were strong calls for the drunk driver to face severe consequences. “Bulukin nyo selda!” (Let him rot in jail!) and “Yan ang dapat ikulong Habang buhay” (That person should be jailed for life) were common sentiments.
A particularly close call for a pedestrian was also noted, with a user stating, “Ako po yung tumatawid, lakas tibok ng dibdib ko parang si Tom cruise ang dating ng eksena haha😂,” indicating how narrowly tragedy was averted.

The quick response of these officers underscored the dedication of law enforcement personnel, even during their personal time, and serves as a testament to their commitment to public safety.

The incident continues to be a talking point, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving and the bravery of those who uphold the law.
