A 45-year-old man lost his life after falling off a cliff while trying to take a photo of a mountain view.

The tragic incident happened in Mount Santo Tomas located in Tuba, Benguet, past 4 PM last Sunday.

Based on a report by TV5's 'Frontline Tonight,' the cliff was over 200 feet deep, which made the retrieval of the victim's body last for 2 hours.

Authorities said the victim sustained serious injuries to the head and other parts of his body.

Based on the investigation, the victim wasn't a tourist, but a resident of Baguio. He was with his 2 kids when they went to what they call "Biak-na-Bato."

The said place gives people an overlooking view of the area, which attracts both locals and tourists.

According to the authorities, the victim and his kids just made a quick drop-by in the area. The victim asked one of his kids to take a photo of him.

The victim stood on a huge rock and reportedly lost his balance, resulting in him to fall off the deep cliff.

Because of the unfortunate incident, the PNP and DENR promised to heighten the security in the area.

Right now, only residents and those who secured a special permit are allowed to go inside the said mountain in accordance to the 'Writ of Kalikasan' of the Supreme Court.
