According to a report by TV5's 'Frontline Tonight,' the truck driver turned himself in to the authorities.

In the Philippines, if a truck driver loses control of the vehicle and ends up killing people, the driver may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicid3 under Article 365 of the Revised Penal Code.

This charge applies when someone causes death due to lack of precaution, carelessness, or failure to follow traffic rules.

If the investigation shows that the driver was speeding, failed to maintain the vehicle, ignored road signs, or drove carelessly on a curved or sloped road, these may all be considered signs of recklessness.

The penalties may include imprisonment and the payment of damages to the victim’s family.

However, if it is proven that the incident was unavoidable and the driver exercised proper care, it may be treated as a fortuitous event, although this is often difficult to establish.
